Diagnosing Code P2647 Issue
2007 Honda Accord 2.4L. Code P2647. 338k miles. Car has been in the family since new I know the history on it it has had Oil changed and other regular maintenance done on it like it should it’s whole life. I cannot figure out what my issue is from this code. I have replaced the gasket with the screen from the vtec module and the oil pressure switch and I changed the oil. The solenoid on the module I believe is working because if I unplug it it pops up a whole different code than what my issue is. Oil pressure gauge is reading plenty of oil pressure when the car is cold but once it gets to operating temp it’s down to 6psi at idle and maybe 8psi at 3k rpm. I hear what I think is something hitting the top of the valve cover every once in a while and very randomly. Car starts up and run perfectly fine cold or hot. But cannot go over 2500rpm with that code on. Yes I’ve cleared it many times and it comes right back on a couple minutes after starting it back up. Due to the only code that I have I was determined that this was an electrical issue and not a mechanical issue but the low oil pressure leads me to believe otherwise unless the solenoid on the vtec module isn’t actually working and that’s what is causes no oil pressure somehow but idk how it all works. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
i have dealt with the 2647 code i bought A 2003 Honda accord 2.4 l i was having same problem as you . the fix was changed oil and bought new OEM variable timing solenoid and oil pressure switch .NOTE don't put aftermarket. i tried one it ran for about A couple hours and the parts failed .After Installation of OEM parts cleared the 2647 code ands its been running fine ,good luck with the issue
I put in an aftermarket oil pressure switch, changed both strainers, and they were clean, and it worked fine for a bit in my 04. Now, it throws the code every time I cold start. Should I just bite the bullet and get the OEM assembly?
