My car is currrently burning gas like a V8 and i drive it normally, as it should be driven. im getting max 22 mpg... help
80k miles and i just bought it used

also i noticed how when im idling in park, the car sends a wave of vibrations in a fixed pattern.. once second ill feel it in my butt and the next sec i wont. also when im reversing i hear something weird under the hood, and very faint knocking sounds sometimes. i always heat up the car before leaving and i have new tires and oil change

Warming the engine before leaving is killing your MPGs. Just start and go.

Is that highway or city mpg?

Driving on a cold start isn’t very fuel efficient i’d rather warm it up before i leave. that’s City mpg

22 in the city with all the warm up idle time is about the best you can hope for. They are only rated 21 in city.

It will warm up faster if you just start driving. Modern cars are great about that. It would be a myth to think letting it warm up at zero mpgs sitting in the driveway is going to save fuel.

yeah i know driving it will warm it up faster but i let it warm up nearly half way to its optimal temp then i take off.

Your fuel to burn I guess. You won't be saving any with that practice.

i know warming up the car wastes fuel but it’s not as nearly as much as how much burns when i’m on the road, driving normally keeping it under 3000 RPM’s
