Default 2007 Honda Civic Clutch problems (PLEASE HELP!)

I have a 2007 Honda Civic 5 speed manual. I pulled over in a parking lot yesterday to change my shirt and my car was running just fine. After parking, I tried to press in the clutch (so that I could reverse out) and heard a single loud snap. I can no longer shift it into gear while it is turned on, and if I shift it into gear while off it spits and sputters/will not start when I try turning the key. The pedal still has resistance and raises itself back to the initial position. I did not see any liquid leaking anywhere, no screws or bolts missing/laying around, and no broken/disconnected springs and wires. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Is the shift cable still functioning? If so pull off the inspection plate under the car on the transmission and have a peek in there at the flywheel and clutch to see if the clutch is shattered may have to rotate the flywheel manually in neutral with car off.
