Default Ac compressor

2007 accord hybrid. Compressor seized. I hear there are two different compressors. One electric and the other not. It runs off the serpentine belt. Well, dealer wants $1800 just for compressor. I see one auto zone for $500. I’m confused.

Default Re: Ac compressor

The hybrid has an electric motor to drive the compressor when in auto stop. It also has a serpentine belt to run the compressor when the engine is turning. It is just a single compressor with two drive inputs. It is an expensive unit, no getting around it.

Can save a few bucks buying the compressor from a discount OEM site. Will still need someone to perform the replacement and AC discharge and charge.

The $500 unit you are seeing is not for a hybrid and is not compatible with the hybrid.
