No dash illumination, park lights still work
Hi, I just bought my 2002 accord coupe and my gauges/buttons aren't illuminating at night. I've seen a few posts but none have helped, would appreciate a hand if anyone's figured something out
My 02 is the same way. Gauge and buttons lights worked until I installed a new head unit. Park and head lights work. The idiot lights like seat belt and check engine maintenance required signals and high beams illuminate.
I saw a video on YouTube about adding a jumper wire on the back of the gauge cluster. Something about blowing out the multiplexer when I hooked up the illumination wire on the head unit. It bypasses the multiplexer which controls the brightness of the dash light. When you add the jumper the lights come on full brightness. I haven't had a chance to try it yet but I will and let you know. I'll try to find the video too. I wrote the which wires to jump on the head unit manual so if I can't find the video I upload some pictures.

Well the thing is if it's not lighting up it could be a fuse, and your tail lights will also be out (check for that)for me I had a short in the radio in my 96 accord.. try unplugging the radio/ replace the fuse
and in my 94 integra I had the same problem and it was in a blinker

The cluster is a pain in the *** to get out just btw. There is a rubber I guess you would call it an anchor clip in the center. You have to push it down in order to slide the cluster out. I cut it off before I put it back in. Also the cluster does not fit between the top of the steering wheel and the top of the dash. You have to slide it out on the door side where there is a little more room.
