I had a few bad valve guides in my h22 head so I decided to buy a whole new intake and exhaust set of bronze Brian Crower guides. I bought part numbers bc3900-2 and bc3901-2. I had these professionally installed by a good machine shop. I measure the height of the valve guides from this head compared to a stock one and they are both exactly the same.
My issue is that my valve spring seat will no go all the way down on the new guides. There seems to be a "step" preventing it from doing so as you can see in the pictures. I think the "step" is actually a depth stopper for the guide when pressing them into the head, but this would put the new bronze guides deeper into my head than the stock guides are. Is this correct or has anybody used these guides before to help me figure this out?
