I have a 2008 honda civic Exi from my friend who accidently broke his key during boat travel and the only thing left with him is the metal key in the pic rest all is gone. Car has not been started since ages and its battery is dead.
Pic shows the only metal part left with him which allows him to lock / unlock doors and steering column.
Need advise on what to do in order to start and use the car.
I have a fully spare trashed civic 2006 lxi, after reviewing lots of forums and blogs came to know that parts from donor car (Immobilizer receiver / MICU / PCM ECM 3 / complete key) are the parts need to be changed in order to get it working again.
My thoughts are the immobilizer is only responsible to allow the ecu to give a go ahead pulse to start the engine.
or if i can change only PCM ECM and immobilizer unit only
Need your advise please which steps and what to follow.
By this generation the MICU was also part of the immobilizer system.
Really your best option is to have new key(s) made and programmed. The key blanks from Honda should be around $35 and programming would be less than an hour of labor.
OP's location shows Qatar. If they really charge $450 for a key and programming, then another possible alternative can be getting new keys cut and buying a programmer for DIY through Amazon, Aliexpress, etc.
