Squealing and grinding noise from engine like metal
Last post I was sure it was the power steering pump making the noise, I took the belt off and the noise is there still. Is it just a bad pulley on the ac compressor at this point?
It may be the adjustment idler for the A/C pump or the A/C compressor itself... remove that belt as well and see if the noise goes away.
start at the outermost belt first and work your way in. on the d15b7 its the AC belt first, then the Alternator, then (hopefully its one of those 2) its time to dig into the timing belt area, either the waterpump is about to poop the bed or the tensioner is about to.

I’m thinking more on the tensioner but I’ll look at both, thanks all!
okay, back to update as I said. from what has been done the power steering pump belt and the a/c belt is removed. I hand spinned the pulley next to the dipstick, I think it’s called the idler pulley. And it definitely was not smooth, is the pulley the problem or is it some kind other thing like a bearing? Also I’m just curious does this problem occur only because it’s 22 years old?
It sounds like you're describing the idler pulley for the AC compressor. It has a sealed (non-serviceable) bearing in it that can go bad over time. Remove the nut from the center of the pulley (12mm, I think), and remove the pulley. Pay attention to any spacer, collars, washers that are behind and in front of the pulley, and make sure you keep them in the correct order for when you reinstall the pulley. You can either press out the bearing and replace just the bearing, or you can buy a new pulley with a new bearing in it and bolt it back onto the car.

The complete assembly from Honda part number is: 38950-P2K-305. The individual pulley from Honda part number is: 38942-PM3-000, but it is discontinued. Either of these parts might cross reference to the proper replacement part at your local Auto Parts Store.
