Default Suspension

There is something I'd like to know,I've seen mechanics remove the little point that gets pinched n locked in the fork where the shock absorber sits on the ek and rd-1.
Doing this they can actually push the shock absorber deeper into the fork which gets the front lower,I want to know if this is safe and what problems it may cause.

Lowering the shock fork mount point will not lower the car, but it will add more shock travel. If the shock was not designed to be supported where it will be supported when you trim that tab, there could be an imbalanced ride or possibly failure at the shock.

Thanks for replying, was thinking the front might ride more rigid n shocks get damaged easier hitting potholes.
