Broke a valve cover stud, How hard is it to fix
Ok, when I was putting my valve cover back on I ended up snapping the stud on the bottom left corner of the valve cover while turning the bolt. What's the part number on the stud and how hard is it to fix???
1)what u are gonna have to do it remove the valve cover again, and hopefully there will be enough of the stud sticking out for you to be able to grab and back out of the head.
2)if not you are gonna need to use one of those bolt extractors to get it out. something along those lines.
as for the part number for the bolt maybe someone else can help you.
SilverS who knows what u are going thru, because he broke his stud for the fuel rail a few months back.

no, you can buy a new stud at the dealership for i think like 8bucks, then screw out the broken stud, and screw in the new one, it wont take more then 10mins. easy job
in this pic it is number 18. It looks as if I can just remove the whole assembly with a wrench and screw the new one back on. Do dealers stock this part?
if thats the one u should be able to just back it out, and then get the new one from the dealer.
as for having it in stock, i had to order the one for my fuel rail it took a week, so i'd call them tomorrow morning

The same socket used to remove the nut will remove the broken stud.
It was made that way for that reason. I've broken that before.
Don't worry its's very easy to fix.

So I could take it out with a 10mm open end wrench or a 10mm deep socket right?

I have the bags left. 1 is for the stud & 1 is for the nut.
The part #'s are: 90213-PH3 & 90012-PM7. I forgot which one is which.
But you will need both. Your local dealer will have them for you.
If it's the longer studs (which are centrally located that also hold the spark plug cover) the part # is 90014-PR3-000
If it's the outer ones, the part # is 90012-PM7-000
Ask me how I know
I have extras of each on tap, but now that I sold my car, they are just going to sit in my garage...
They are about 3 or 4 bucks a piece to, damn it!
Oh well, hope this helps
