Default Plug wires

I'm looking to get a new set of plug wires for my UK ITR (old ones have 80K miles and are looking a bit tatty). Did a search and couldn't find an answer to my question.

I've been looking at the ones with ground straps on them (Nology, Spoon etc), what are these ground straps for, do they have any benefit (performance, smoothness, longevity?)

Thanks in advance

Thanks I can see I'm going to get a lot of recommendations of OEM, but what are the grounding straps for?

I will have to find out how much the OEM wires are here in the UK, That will probably make up my mind as much as anything. I actually endded up getting uridium plugs cheaper then the Honda dealer quoted for standard Honda ones.

I'm curious, too..........sure their website would explain it, but can anyone verify performance claims?

Thanks,
Nick

Its fails in comparision to this, for both the ablitlity to carry current and looks.

this was made out of ground cable for my audio system, I forgot the gauge but used the pencil for reference. both ends were sodered too for maximum efficency.

4 gauge.
i would hope you used that where the MORE IMPORTANT ground on the trans is right?

back on topic: those ground straps are good to give the spark another place to arc to
before they get to the plug cheap spoon wires

i hate to say it but too big of a ground will hurt current. it will take more current to get though.

Bigger wire = less resistance. It will not hurt the quality of the ground circuit.
As far as those wires with the ground straps go, they are a POS gimmick IMO.

I agree.

Might as well invest in an earthing system if grounding is so important. My engine runs fine with the stock grounding wires.

NGK blues are pretty good priced if you want somewhat of a bling.

I have some Magnecor wires and it did nothing as a far as I can tell. Just go OEM if you get a fair price.
