Default Drilled hole in fuel vapor hard pipe...how to fix?

We were installing anti-submarine belts in our 2000 Civic LX and drilled a hole straight through the biggest pipe under the heat shield plastic pipe cover, what we believe to be the fuel vapor hard pipe. It's a really big pipe, compared to the other two pipes that are next to it. Well, we are totally bummed. Any advice on an easy repair? The hole is about the diameter of a pencil. I've been reading different forums and found where some people will cut the original pipe out and replace with a nylon tube and connectors. Is there any affordable, safe, effective fix?

THANK YOU!!!!

Use a hack saw to finish separating the tube into two ends. Deburr and clean the ends. Verify the size (outside diameter) of the tube. I think it's 1/4-inch. Install a compression union, available at most hardware stores.
