Alarm will not reset
I have an 09 Honda Accord EX and I can’t get the factory anti theft system to reset or shut off. My driver door lock was already messed up so I would pop the hood to avoid the whole alarm ordeal well I forgot today. I also had to get a new key a few days ago but it did not have a key fob so just a regular key but the locksmith assured me the fob would still work. I unhooked my battery and pulled the horn fuse then reconnected the battery. I then put the key in the driver door turned to unlock then lock then unlock again I got in a cranked the car for the required 10 minutes but it did not reset. I did manage to get it home though only to discover that my brake lights do not work. Also I have to push in the pin on my gear shifter to get the car into reverse. My question is how do I just disable the alarm?
1. If you pulled under-hood Fuse No. 10 for the horns and didn't replace it, that would explain why your brake lights don't work and having to push the shift lock release pin (interlock system). That fuse protect those other circuits too and supply power to them.
2. Normally to turn off the alarm, unlocking the driver’s door with the key or the remote transmitter will turn it off. You mentioned your door lock is messed up; so, they may be what is causing you not to be able to shut it off.
