I'm new too all this honda and the forums. But these forums have helped me out before and hoping yall can help me out rn. I'm gonna switch to mpfi. Have a 1988 civic wagon with a 1992 d15b2 and the original trans. I want to make it mpfi I have the intake only numbers that I find to identify it are p10 ipt-3. Has the fuel rail and 3 injectors. I also know I need to rewire some things, But I don't know what exactly and/or what other parts do I need to do it properly. Any info on this helps
Right at the top of this here forum there's a helpful sticky called "Frequently Asked Questions." See section 7, subsection C. The 2nd link in that list has been my go-to many times.

Happy reading.
don’t do this above.
All that info is outdated and hardly correct.
dont do an mpfi swap it’s a waste of time and money
do a vtec head swap from a del sol or 92-95 civic ex
get a p06 or p28 ecu
get it chipped and a 1.5 liter vtec basemap loaded onto it

I agree the info likely has broken picture links, but the info is still correct and a motivated individual can piece together what they need to get the job done.
It was a valuable upgrade for me. I wouldn't say I got any noticeable performance increase, and all-in I think I spent about $500 to do the swap, but my car ran much better after converting to MPFI.

in other words you better be ready to climb mountains and have a ton of aspirin for the headaches
what’s correct about using 1.6 ecu’s on 1.5 blocks?

yes I also want to do a vtec swap. I've read up on it and I think a head that a d16y8 head I think is the best for the d15 block. But I also read that the d15 block may not be able to take the higher rpms and also Said to do mpfi first before doing the mini me swap. So I'm not sure which to do first because I am on a tight budget and haven't found any vtec heads. Trying to keep this car as my daily driver but not a slow daily driver.
no performance increase $500 down the drain change my mind
Some people did their MPFI swaps because they didn't want to spend 80 dollars to replace an absurd leak-prone injector on a weird manifold that's a pain in the *** to work around.
Anyone who wants to spend $500 just to get a performance increase should stop breaking ED/EFs and buy a Mustang.

Yes, you can do them separately. Wiring will probably be your biggest issue.
But if you want a fast daily, just sell the poor car before you're angrily selling another hack-job no-start on facebook marketplace.

admin step in !
hondatech is polluted with accounts like this guys! It really makes things difficult. Can an admin please delete this guys account. He his most likely single handily responsible for a handful of Honda’s ending up on Facebook marketplace.
He must actually be a mustang owner the way he gives direction to others.
Dual point injectors $80 he said
pain in the A to swap out he said.
mind blown
mind blown
like wow
then he just completely disregards the fact that the op has the idea that a y8 head is the right one for him
he says nothing
this is great
and buy a mustang?!?!?!
wheres a sidewalk I feel like smashing my head into it

all hondas are slow even the big turbo big hp ones are still slow compared to the majority of cars the road and those currently for sale..
your only option is to be a little less slow..you can only accomplish this with a bigger motor or a vtec head swap.
If you want to do an mpfi swap you need a list of parts to buy
if you want to do a vtec head swap after you do your mpfi swap your going to buy everything on that parts list ALL OVER AGAIN
if that makes sense financially to you then by all means go ahead.. I doesn’t to me that’s all I’m saying
“d15 can’t take that rpms” get that out of your head also get out of your head any glimpses of you smacking 9k rpms
get a d15 vtec basemap loaded on the ecu you plan to use and you will be more than fine.
yes the y8 head is higher comp ports make a swirl effect and the intake has a bigger plenum but the camshaft it comes with will only operate with a obd2 distributor, ecu, and so on
the way around that isnt easy you have to get the camshaft out of one the vtec heads I suggested to you and put it in the y8 head next you have to swap the guts from the distributor off the head that I suggested into the y8 distributor

OP doesn't (apparently) even realize they have a B7 IM but you want to talk about the swirl effect of a head and a plenum that they may not ever get, and dropping a basemap on an ECU that they probably can't afford to have chipped and tuned in their daily?
The camshaft requires the ECU, he said. Yeah, I see, that really is highly effective. Just takin' us right back to school, that.
The camshaft is mechanical, like the VTEC system to which you probably mean to allude. The only practical reason you'd match a camshaft to a dizzy/ECU is for fuel maps, which is totally, utterly irrelevant if you aren't putting in the entire engine to match the cam. Or just snapping your fingers for an instant chipped and mapped ECU. Or my frankenstein engines on stock PM6s just ran entirely by magic. Who can say.
OP, my sincere apologies for polluting your thread, I'll leave you in the obviously superior care of this preeminent mind. Good luck.

finally he decided to be helpful and leave. I still hope that he deletes his own account.
He said dual point injectors were $80 and a pain to get to and change out
I’ll tell you that if you have a Phillips screwdriver and no holes in your pockets you can get a pair from the junk yard for free.
for some reason he brought up his own hate for dual point injectors must be some back story to that.
he also said above a whole lot of... I know what to call it just a bunch of stuff to make himself seem actually knowledgeable
I hate that this thread will continue to exist for others when they google “dpfi to mpfi”
i also hate how the official stickie post for mpfi swaps suggest you hunt down antique items like a pm6 and resistor box and a si harness which is an arm n a leg now a days.
