Default Removing Wheel Hub Bearing, do i need to take out the snap ring?

hey im following along with this guy..

in the link above, hes at the point where he is taking out the snap ring. If i have a new snap ring, do i have to worry about taking the snap ring off? Can i proceed to just taking the wheel bearing out?

Yes, the snap ring must be removed to press out the bearing. You will break the knuckle if you don't remove the snap ring.

After I took out the wheel bearing, I noticed it was very rusty in the snap ring groove and thr lip that sticks out to hold the bearing in place.. its all rusted in there... is it ok to rub a wire brush in there to clean the rust or should I not scratch up in the inside of wheel bearing housing?

Wire brush is perfectly acceptable. Use a pick or cut the old snap ring to make a scraper to clean out the snap ring groove.

A spray of fluid film when you are done will go a long ways towards preventing future rust.

Thanks man, i will go inside the knuckles wheel bearing housing/bore with a scrapper and hand wire brush!!

Also, im thinking of removing all the rust on the outside of the knuckle. As you can see from my picture below its a bit rusty.. i want to use the angle grinder with the wire brush tool that you see there to just scrap off all the rust, all over the outside of the knuckle (Avoiding the inside bore).
Is this a very bad idea or is it a-okay?

Go wild, you really can't do damage with that wire cup brush. Avoid that ball joint boot, the wire wheel will grab that and toss it across the room faster than you can blink.

Nah, that fine wire brush won't remove material that is sound. Should be fine to clean up the bore.
