2000 Honda Civic EX Coupe with a K24 swap. (Video is attached at the bottom showing the play)
Subframe: 92 Civic CX or DX
Rack: 95 Civic non power steering
Control Arms: DC Integra
Drop Forks: DC Integra
Steering U-Joint ordered brand new OEM from Honda part number: 53323-SM4-O13- Joint B
The car originally had power steering and was switched to a non powered rack when I swapped the car. I was using the non power steering u-joint that came with the rack when I bought the subframe but it still had the same amount play if not worse. So I bought the new OEM joint and a new rack and now here we are 2 years later with my car being super sketchy to drive after spending $7k on a swap XD
As you can see in the attached videos the is a good amount of play in the steering wheel from the u-joint on the rack side. This is said to be the "Non power steering u-joint" for EG's but we you look on the Honda website it shows there is no difference in any of the EG steering joints in the power steering and non-power steering models.
Should I spend another $120 and try the EK non-power steering one to get rid of the extra play.
Everyone swears up and down that this is the right part and obviously it still has excessive play.
I think you need to apply more torque to the pinch bolt on the lower half and get the joint to clamp down on the splines. It also looks like you are missing the lock washer under the bolt head. The manual calls for 16 lbs.ft for both bolts.
