2001 honda accord 4cy VTEC 4000 rpm cuts out
My timing was replaced by my neighbor and he swears it's done correctly but it won't go past 4000 rpm. It's Either not timed right or something else. He swears he timed it right. If the timing is off would it effect the VTEC solenoid? Will the timing effect vtech
yes the check engine light is on and the codes while sitting for awhile are p0135 and p0141. There's another code that comes on but only after driving about 11 miles down the road and that code is p1259. When it's cleared that code stays off for awhile but then comes on again after driving it. He tested the VTEC solenoid switch and it's supposed to be at 10 volts but it was reading like 14 volts. So he's thinking he needs to replace the solenoid itself. He already replaced the wire mesh

I'm not familiar with cars I've never worked on one and this is all what he's telling me. He says he's pretty sure the timing is correct and now thinks it's to do with the solenoid. I had the head redone by a machinist and they said the valves were good to go. But after he put the head on he said they weren't adjusted right. I'm confused and I just want my car back. Not sure if changing the exhaust header had anything to do it but I'm about to tell him to put the stock header back on. He wants to go get a new solenoid for it tomorrow and not sure if that's the problem. The codes are p0135 and p0141 it's a 01 accord VTEC 2.3 4cy engine. Another code is p1259 it will clear and stay off for awhile but then comes back on after driving several miles. Thank you for any advice you might have
