Default 2012 CR-V Snow Chains

Hello everyone! I’m new to the forum and I’m looking to buy snow chains for my 2012 CR-V. I don’t live anywhere particularly snowy, but I do plan to take frequent trips into the mountains to go skiing, where they require chains often. I’ve been reading my owner’s manual and it talks about using S class cable radial chain SC1042 chains. In my research, I’ve read that Z type chains are better than radial. Does it make a difference if I were to get Z type vs radial type? It seems to me that it doesn’t matter as long as they are S class. Am I correct in that? I don’t know much about snow chains, as I’ve never had to use them before. Thanks in advance!

Studless snow tires and AWD are typically fine in place of chains. At least around here that is the law. Far less hassle than chains and safer.

You should be fine with Z bar chains. Just make sure they have a proper fit and are installed correctly.
