Hello fellow honda people, I am currently in the process of putting this obd2 gsr engine into my obd1 93 cx hatch. This is my second swap and the first b series one so I'm not very well informed on the platform. It has an obd1 distributor and I've been told it's ready for obd1. I'm using a D16z6 engine harness and everything seems to be OK with it. I will ask the questions now I just wanted to set the scene for you.
My gsr motor has a skunk 2 intake on it and I can't seem to see an IAB, with that being said do I need to de pin the a20 plug and move it to a17 so it doesn't throw a code? Or will I be OK because it doesn't exist? I've already pinned in the vtec stuff and the knock sensor. (3 wires total on the drivers side rubber plug in fire wall) if not what's the solution to this especially because I don't have an IAB? Is deleting the evap purge nessacary because I've seen some of that thrown around while surfing the forums here and I'm a bit skeptical because I'd rather not have to fail emissions in a year.
I may have more questions in the future and update the post. I've read alot of stuff over the past 2 days and I just need someone to explain to me a simple way to do it. I don't even know exactly what IAB stands for lol.
IAB is the set of butterflies in the OEM intake manifold that changes the runner length. If you're using a Skunk2 manifold, there are no IAB butterflies. You can leave the pin in the ECU plug without any harm. I believe IAB stands for Intake Air Bypass. Stole this from another thread:
Thanks again DaX you seem to be the only one ever responding to me. Lol. Just got the swap mounted in the bay, I'll update this thread if anything goes wrong. Appreciate you!
