EJ1 3k budget build
Hello everyone, I am looking to do my first budget build for my 1995 civic ex coupe [EJ1]. My budget is $3k and I am trying to get a decent daily build (so keeping reliability) but also fun for roll racing and what not. I am looking to continue to use the d16 block. Brainstorming I know I need forged rods, pistons, hondata s300, upgraded injectors and fuel pump, turbo kit, intake. Anything else I am missing? Should I prioritize getting some new wheels and tires and suspension? The motor and trans have 190k miles, will I need a new trans? I really want to modify my car but there is just so many options and it is really intimidating and I honestly need someone to help me pick the stuff out. I have a few buddies willing to help me but they aren't civic experts, they will help me once I get the parts. I haven't done any major engine work myself before, I have messed around with friends motors but never done it myself. Only really have worked on suspension stuff and thats it. What power numbers can I hit with a 3k budget? Is 300whp doable with that budget or am I just day dreaming? Thanks in advance for the help!
Unfortunately $3K these days really doesn't get you anywhere at all.
I'd highly recommend you save up a bit more, and revisit this topic when you're closer to $5K+. Or, it may not be a bad idea now to build your D16 block with the forged bottom end, and just drive it NA for awhile with the factory bolt-ons (this would also be a good time to install the upgraded clutch and break it in properly). It'll still be slow, but that way your engine would be ready for later on when you do the injectors + ECU + turbo kit.
