Default building engine & turbo

Hey, I'm in the process of receiving a lump sum of cash due to an auto accident and I'll finally have the means to build a car....I've been searching for awhile and talkin to some tuners and think I've come up with a setup....right now I'm looking at spending $10K for everything...car, engine, but have a great feeling that i'll spend more....this will be a reliable *i hope* daily driver w/ the occasional track runs, and dyno pulls. I have no WHP or track time goals....besides respectable but i know that'll change....i'm in the process of finding a EG H/B to put a b16 into....thought about b18c...but was thinking moneywise and think I may just stick to building up the b16 for the turbo....lemme know if this could make a big diff....
92 EG H/b
B16
SC34 trim:57, .48, IP Mani.,Precision 600HP IC, 38mm Tial
I'm just looking for decent spool time, and a good overall powerband
I'm looking to prolly have the engine sleeved by Benson....not sure what "mm" to go at prolly 83 to leave room....I'll probably go with their CP Pistons and Eagle Rods. I'm planning on running Hondata S200B and have the ECU chipped..
Not sure what else to include..I'll have to look around for exhaust and necessary piping....I think no more then 400WHP would keep me happy...haven't driven a big turbo car besides a 91 Talon TSI....
I should have my cash any day now.....so wanting to get this planned out so I can start ordering parts and building it.
Let me know what kind power to expect....where to upgrade with alotted cash, given that i'll need to use the same to spread across suspension and other necessary things.....lemme know...i appreciate any help in advance

1st get a good motor. GSR would be a good! build up the block and head if u have money. break it in...get a good turbo kit or pieced togetehr 1. i just bought a whole drag kit and got hondata. oh yeah, get hondata or aem ems....whichever....something better then missing and fmu.

motor, turbo and lil stuff will run u almost if not more then 10k alone. thats if u got the right hook ups and etc. and no body yet.

Do you plan on assembling the block yourself, sending it out to get sleeved, swapping the motor in yourself? Because those factors will play a major role seeing as how they will eat up around $1,000-1,500.

you gotta figure:
civic $2,000 depending on location and if your lucky
motor $2,400-3,100
turbo kit pieced together with fuel management $5,000

I think you get the drift, and there are so many more factors to tie in also! new belts pumps, etc for the swap! Personally I would build a b18b over the b16a and others will argue differently! although my favorite is the b18c1. good luck and give us some more info and maybe we can help a bit more

Default thank you

I plan on doing the swap and turbo myself....I also plan on sending the block out to Earl for the Benson Sleeving process. I'm in WI....and I see a 94 h/b for $3k now but it's really dinged up...bumpers and hood...so could get it cheaper.......but there's always one popping up here and there....but i also figured $2k....
I would like to build it strong for boost even though on a daily basis won't be boosting all that much....I guess the engine part is all up in there....i went from b18c to b16 cause i was thinking about sticking all of the extra into building the b16....I've been trying to look at peoples #'s and times to compare engine's but it isn't that easy w/ all the variables...
I have a few wholesalers for pricing since I attempted to start my own business so I may cut a few dollars off there.
I also need to figure injectors...oil lines...may hit up kteller for exhaust and piping....
i'm sittin at the pc waitin for more info....want to get this all planned for when the check gets here in 2 weeks or so
tks again

I'm just trying to figure out what engine to boost......and then everyone posts Mase's tunes....and it's like....i think i'll be driving to FL....I just really want a lot of input and plan on posting up the whole buildup....
What injectors.....C/R......I have all these questions....and don't know how to state'em really

Please show me how you would piece together a turbo kit with fuel management for 3,000! I would love to know, maybe you didnt notice that he says he wants a precision turbo and intercooler, put that down for $1,000. tial wg $200...i will let you add up from there, also lets not forget hondata s200b $500. I can keep going between fuel and turbo parts and add up if you would like!

If money is of some concern (which it sounds like) why not buy an OBD-I B18b long block which is $900.00 SHIPPED, rebuild it and buy a GSR or Si transmission? It would save you more than a couple hundred dollars.

i do agree with you there, i wasnt taking into account the precision turbo and inter cooler. but still here are my #'s, still not 5k.

turbo intercooler- $1000
tial wastegate- $200
tial bov- $200
IC piping- $150(materils assuming he can weld)
lavefab sst- $800
hondata- $500
injectors-$340
gauges-$200
oil lines -$120
exhaust-$400(again assuming he can weld)
total-$3910

its not a big deal really. you are correct you could aesily spend 5k, im just saying you dont HAVE to

tks again guys.....i'm just looking into more of the buildup....to the engine....i'm still thinkin b16.....although i'm continuing my research on the b18c or b18b....assuming b16....i'm thinkin benson sleeves....i need to figure out what pistons for C/R rods...and other buildup and also valvetrain.....i'd really like to build it strong as I may buy 2 projects and have one for ultimate HP and track and another moderately done for daily driving....it just seems every other post on times or WHP it's all different setups and i'm just trying to balance it out to get the most outta my whole project...additional help...if any

In my opinion you're looking to spend way too much, I run that in my CRX an I've only spent around $4,000 with car. Seems like you're building up this big bad *** setup to only run stock ability boost levels.

I believe i'd rather build it up and put the effort and money into it and be safe......like i said I would really like be able to turn it up a lot for track purposes....although daily i'm not looking to run street races from every stoplight...this is an opportunity i've been waiting for for a long time.....and want to go about it the right way
