Default Civic 2004 oil lamp display

Hi Guys,

Hope all r doing well. This is my first post here. I have an Honda civc 2004 vti which is displaying oil lamp warning on dash, after 10 secs of starting the car the warning light goes off. I checked with a garage and told me the oil pressure switch is faulty. I hope someone can suggest which color is the switch is it green or black ended ?. Thanks in advance.

Does it have oil in the pan?

Could be the switch, could be lack of maintenance, could be a failing oil pump, could be sludge build up.

Putting a pressure gauge on it and going through the steps to reproduce the issue will be the best method.

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for replying. Yeah oil is there already checked, I was asked to replace the faulty switch, having checked online i am confused about the color of the switch, I dont know much about cars. As this is my first car, I would like to buy the right part, also the parts are no longer available even from junkyard. Thats my dilemma.

If the vti is the 1.7 then either of these part numbers should fit. 37240-PT0-014 or 37240-PT0-023 both are readily available in the US.

Before replacing the oil pressure switch, you should check the oil pressure to see if the oil pump is failing or you have a clogged screen. Then again if the mechanic has tested the oil pressure switch and deemed it faulty - replace it.
