[1987 CRX] Help!! I can't get my front bumper back on...
Ok, this is going to sound like a dumb question. I got a new front bumper for my 1987 CRX (pulled from an 86 CRX). My old one (which was lined up correctly) was held on to the crash guard with zipties, so three snips and it was off. Pulled off the old bumper and unbolted the crash guard to put on the new crash guard and bumper. For some reason, my bumper sticks out WAY too far from the front of the car. Ok, maybe the 86 doesn't fit on the 87? I tried to reinstall the old bumper and crash guard and, somehow, same issue.
The answer is going to be simple and stupid, but I've tried EVERY combination to get the bumper to line up properly and it simply sticks out too far. How do you align the bumper and crash bar to sit properly? Can you adjust the bump stops to be closer? I've attached pictures below. I'll also write up what I have tried so far.
-Tried bolting on the crash guard upside down-Tried removing the bolt bracket for the bumper to connect to the crash bar-Tried attaching the new bumper to new crash bar, new bumper to old crash bar, old bumper to new crash bar, and old bumper to old crash bar-Removed blinkers to try to improve clearance-Tried to get the crash bar to sit further in to the bumper (it's already fully inserted, and tests against the inner surface of the bumper)
Seriously, I'm going crazy. Any help is greatly appreciated!! The bumper sits too far outward from the headlights and front fenders, yet there is no space between the crash guard and bumper to slide further inward. Looking at position of crash guard against bumper This is where the new and old crash guards align with the bumper. Is this correct? Notice the edge of the guard sitting outside of the bumper. Crash guard aligned with bumper. Is this correct? It looks to be, as the holes line up and it can't go in any further This is where the crash guard sits relative to the headlight.
Re: [1987 CRX] Help!! I can't get my front bumper back on...
go to a online honda part (hondapartscheap) and check if there are refnum differences... mine is a civic, totally different system... but for some reason there were differences in some parts between 85 and 86 such as AC plugs, blinkers...
