My 98 civic has been shutting down while driving with a check engine light. I am able to turn on my hazard lights to pull over. The speedometer gets stuck at 40 and breaks seem to lock up which makes it hard to break. Never had a problem until i replaced my old knocking engine with a newer used one. For example, today i drove to pick up some pizza and right when i got to the parking space my car shut down with a check engine light. I connected my obd2 scanner and it said it couldn't connect (as in the picture). I scanned it about three times and it kept reading the same. Waited about 10 minutes to turn on car and car turned on like nothing with no check engine light and i drove it home about a 2 miles away. It has done the same
thing to me a few times sometimes driving 30 miles away sometimes less sometimes more. Any idea of where I should start to look for root of issue?. Just replaced knock sensor as well cause last week I got a bad knock sensor code. Timing is good and car runs like a champ with no other issues.
