That was difficult to read since it’s all one sentence. Anyways, I wouldn’t try a junk yard because you risk finding, well, junk from another car that had a problem. Go through a reputable shop and have them send the cylinder head to a machine shop to have it checked out.
Honestly and really, you might be better off buying a used high mileage civic that’s a little newer, that is in good condition such as a 06-11 year model so it won’t be too expensive, but not too old. The 1992-2000 civics are to the point where a lot of them need rebuilds, which is costly and not cost efficient compared to purchasing one already in working condition. Rebuilding a 92-00 civic is more of an enthusiast thing rather than a cost saver…

Pull it and take it to the machine shop. Ask to have it pressure tested and test for flatness and if required resurfaced to make it flat again.
Then you can replace the head gasket knowing the head is in decent shape.
If you don't know how and/or have the right tools, you should also ask them to lap the valves for you. They can clean the carbon off the valve faces so it can be lapped. The jet tub the head goes into to be cleaned after a surface doesn't aid in valve seat sealing. A relap is recommended.

Just save your self the time and money and buy a used JDM replacement D16A and swap everything over to the new engine and perform the CFK bypass and you will thank me later.
I dunno, only cost me 60 bucks to have my D16Z6 head resurfaced. But then again, I have all the tools to do the head gasket and valve lapping and did all new seals etc etc.
I have also seen people swap the newer 2001 engines into the 2000 spec chassis with not much alterations, these were mostly seen in Pakistan and is a common swap for them, you get the added benefits of having vtec and coils instead of spark wires and they are generally less than a D16 replacment.
