Low oil pressure indicator 2005 Civic
I've noticed that the oil pressure light comes on when putting the ignition in on position (II) but not starting car. This red light stays on along with battery light and orange malfunction indicator.
After about a minute the orange malfunction indicator does away and I'm left with just the oil light and battery light on. When I start the car both of these go away. Is this normal? I am aware if they stay on when starting the car it is a problem but it does not.
However, does this indicate low oil but not seriously low oil level? I've checked the oil level but its not very easy to tell if its at the appropriate level or so since the oil is so thin and pulls up on the dipstick. I've read the manual and don't see anything listed about this. Does anyone know?
There are no error codes when running the scanner.

Sounds 100% operational as designed.
Oil light is a no oil pressure light. No running or no oil = no pressure. If you see the light while driving it is too late.
The CEL is to prove the lamp works on key on. Then it goes out saying no codes stored.
And battery light is to indicate the battery is not charging. No spinning alternator = no charging.

Ok, thanks. It was a little bit confusing because some lights go off while some stay on until the car is started when they all go off.
I drained the oil just to double check the level. I had it overfilled probably 3/4" a quart. I ended up refilling with 3L of oil which is supposed to be the amount of oil required without a filter change. However, it was still maybe 1/2 qt low after starting the car and checking the oil afterwards (was between the two holes on the dipstick). Perhaps the Honda engineers do the oil check with the car level on a lift instead of just jacking up the front when they calculated the capacity levels? I'm guessing maybe some oil came out of the filter when I jacked just the front only so that is why it was off either that or capacity level is between the two holes on the dipstick instead of the top hole on the dipstick.
