Good to know. I just like the numbers it can put out. I know I'd have to pretty much rip everything out. I was planning on looking for a salvaged type r online (I found a few on copart already) and then just buying anything else I may need as I go.
At this point, it would be all custom for the installation and integration. The stock ECU simply wouldn't work because of how much input is needed that your Del Sol doesn't have, so either a HPD power train OR a Haltech ECU would have to be utilized to make things run.
You would only do this swap to be different... you can easily make as much, if not more, power with engine power train systems that are already capable of being installed into your chassis.
I've been working with these engines off and on since the end of 2015. They are currently my day in and day out.
The HPD crate engine is a good option for a brand new engine/loom/ecu but doesn't get you a gearbox.
GDI engines require complicated fuel pump control and complicated tuning. Haltech doesn't have an ecu that will run it, unless they've recently added something for GDI that I'm not aware of. You're pretty limited these days, no one is really making consumer grade electronics for DI engines yet. MoTeC M142 is an option, those start at ~$4k for just an ecu. The HPD ecu is locked down an not re-tunable if you deviate from the stock configuration of the crate engine.
The engine is BIG. So is the trans. There was a guy posting around on the web putting one in an 'EG' chassis, so it is physically possible to wedge it in a Del Sol. Fifteen52's Accord wagon is a super nic build if you're looking for some inspiration.
Edit: From Hasport's test fit... she's a big ol bitch. LH Frame rail notched, subframe needs to be bashed, barely any room for a steering rack, and no chances of getting the hood closed. I think I hate the massive amount of space between the firewall and the engine too. The whole thing is wayyy out ahead of the front axle. Maybe okay for a drag car, but terrible for any other use.

I said Haltech above but it must in fact have been a MoTeC ECU package that I observed being offered at PRI 2019. Thank you for the clarification.
