is it worth supercharging a LS ???
hey guy's i got a 1990 DA with the ole LS im thinking of buying a Jackson supercharger but i wonder if it worth my time and money. what do ya'll think jackson vs. vortec vs. turbo what do you guys think ?????? i really want a turbo but dont have the cheese for it but i want something reliable to drive everyday
It all depends on what you want.
There is more to performance than peak WHP, (which is why vortec superchargers look so great on paper but in actuality are not all that).
For a B18B its going to take alittle more work to get great performance out of it. The potential is there, but its not going to be as bolt on and go fast as a B18C kit.
But...
The 8psi belt, proper cooling, FI cams, quality FI P&P, and tuning and you will get good results.

Honestly, aftering spending LOTS of time researching the best FI option for my B18b1, Supercharging it, like going NA, just costs two much for the gains that you get, relative to a good turbo setup. Also, Jackson Racing's blower on the LS kit sucks when compared to that on the GSR kit
people think that just because a trubo gives you more horse power that it is all grand which i agree in some cases.BUT with a super charger wouldnt you get much better throtle response and not as much lag if any?
hey guys i appreciate everones help im undecided still i dont know what to do i just got a credit card in the mail so in the next two months im gonna be sportin a turbo or s/c i jus cant figure out why a s/c work better with VTEC motors and not LS right now im gutted with i/h/e and cam gears jus waiten new stuff comes out everyday so i wanna make a wise decision

worth is relitive. If for you you can place a reasonable value in your own world as to what signifigance it would have to you then yes...anything can be worth it.

the blowers on the superchargers for the ls are smaller then those on the si or gsr's, my friend put the jrsc kit for the SI on his ls and its pretty ****** quick, oh yah, but its in a hatch to and he has all the upgrades for it.

Dude, save for the turbo. Supercharging an LS just isn't worth it IMO.

Yeah, it doesn't give you high 200+whp numbers on an LS, but that doesn't mean there is no merit or situation where it could be useful/worth it.
imo, yeah if you are only concerned about straight line performance definetly go turbo, no arguement. If you want throttle response, a peppier daily driver, consistant torque curve, a JRSC might be a good choice.
