Hello everyone, I seem to have a misfire every time I start my car in the morning, sounds like it only runs on three cylinders. This will continue until I am onto the freeway and the car is well into operating temperature. A couple of weeks ago I did a compression test and the numbers were fine for the mileage on my motor, which is 341 k. Which brings me away from the possibility of a dead cylinder. Any tips?

have you changed out the spark plugs and wires??

 

Spark plugs have been checked, look fine, tested the wires using a timing light, consistent flashing through all 4 cylinders, I also checked the distributor cap for corrosion, there was minor corrosion but I cleaned it up with a wire brush.

 

Have you checked the coil in the distributor/externally? A weak coil has the ability to cause a miss.

 

When was the last time you had the valve clearances checked?
