Is my tps bad
92 accord couple 5 speed. So was testing tps. Found issue i believe. At idle it sits at .53 volts. I thought it was suppose to be .45 but ok idles fine. At 2500 rpms it sits at .91 volts. When it starts to sputter the volts jump up to 1.04 without changing position of throttle at all. AM guessing the tps plays a part in the dizzy timing and it gets advanced according to new volts. So i think this is my issue. Seems like a pain changing out the tps but glad i found it. I just want to confirm this is abnormal and it shouldn't do that. Is that right?
That could also be a short in the wiring....
You need to monitor the voltage from closed throttle all the way up to WOT. With the Key on and engine off, hook up your voltmeter to the signal wire and slowly move the TPS from closed throttle to WOT. The signal voltage should rise smoothly from closed throttle up to WOT. If there is a hitch anywhere in the signal there is an issue with the TPS. If you don't see anything at the sensor, test the wiring between the TPS and ECU.
