What's a good brand of water pump for a B16a2 engine?
I checked Aisin but I didn't find one from them available for the B16a2.
I bought an Aisin water pump for this job several years ago, but looking up the model now, WPH-011, it seems it isn't compatible with my car. So, looks like I need to get another.
When I check that model on ebay, I found this WPH-056V (dunno if the V makes it different) that lists an EM1 as compatible: https://www.ebay.com/itm/154532584732
But if I enter my vehicle specs to check the fit, it doesn't show as compatible.
But in this Aisin catalog from 2010, it gives entirely different model numbers for a water pump for a b16a2 engine (WPH-034, WPH-015 22 TEETH, WPH-051V, WPH-006), and has different model numbers for b16a2 engines from different Civic models:

Did you notice on the image you posted.. take a look at the start production date for the WPH-051V water pump.. It's outside of the EM1's production range! 2001 was not the EM1's run, that was from 99-2000. So with that said, looking at what Aisin is listing, the WPH-015 (with 22 teeth). I checked with Honda and they have a different water pump from the normal 96-2000 (d-series) pump, 19200-P72-013 is Honda's part number for the 99-2000 Si's engine, B16A2, also the same as the 97-98 DelSol's B-series engine, but it is 22 teeth. This is all assuming you're looking for the B16A2 run from 95-2000.
I don't think Aisin would be bad quality but Honda (not to push them) do still sell the water pump. I don't think I've had one bad Honda brand pump yet. I would NOT go with Gates at all, they are really bad quality now! Gates makes great drivebelts but forget their water pumps!

I noticed their dates don't match-up, too. Don't know why that is. The store page that sells Aisin model WPH-056V has the correct dates listed for it under "Installed on vehicles": https://spareto.com/products/aisin-water-pump/wph-056v
The local Honda dealership wants $235 CAD for the OEM water pump. Haha. No way I'd pay that. Online prices for the OEM one (made by Yamada) are really steep, too.
I'll avoid Gates. I'm guessing I'll end up buying an Aisin one, since they do lots of OEM work (their website says they're the biggest supplier of OEM water pumps in the world) and they seem to be available at pretty good prices online. I'll get one from a listing that says it fits an EM1, and make sure it visually matches the OEM water pump.

Yamada is the ONLY way to go... so pony up and get the OE Honda water pump. Remember that you have an EM1, which can be quite valuable these days, so putting lower quality parts on it cheapens the value of the car. $235 CAD is cheap when you consider that it should last about 180K miles (288K km). If you can buy it cheaper online... even better.

The price for the Aisin was cheap with fast shipping to Canada, and I feel confident that Aisin is a good brand. They're a large OE supplier owned by Toyota and said to be (and claim it themselves) OE quality. Reviews online for them are very good.
Though, I found this article which says that aftermarket parts made by OEM manufacturers can be of lesser quality than their same parts made for the manufacturer: https://www.repairerdrivennews.com/2...not-identical/
Re: What's a good brand of water pump for a B16a2 engine?
Over the years, there have been slight impeller design changes and housing changes to accommodate these impeller changes... as well as the inclusion or deletion of indexing dowels at two of the five bolt holes on the housing. The 19200-P72-013 does not have dowels.

How many teeth does your pump have ?
It has 22 teeth.
The holes actually looks the same as the OEM, to me.

Can confirm, just did a J35 water pump. OEM was Aisin. Only difference between the one from Honda and the one direct from Aisin was the "Honda" cast next to "Aisin" on the pump housing.
