Default Anyone have experience replacing a lock assembly?

Hey all,

So I have an issue where my driver side door will not open, either through the outside or inside. I've taken off the door panel and found the issue to be a metal piece (latch?) on the locking assembly that fails to go down to open the door.

This part seems to be pretty rare and pricey for what it is. does anyone have experience with replacing this? (Photos attached).

Thank you. Vehicle is a 05 honda civic lx 1.7l

Likely it is no longer unlocking internal to the door lock assembly. Rockauto has them from $5 to $85 with a full range of prices between.
