Chipping/Reflashing a P28 D16Y8 ECU
Hey guys, kinda new to the tuning scene, I've read a few books about tuning and read some articles about the topic but I want to get some actual experience.
I want to tune my D16Y8 and saw online that there are kits you can solder onto the ECU that make it tuneable.
But my question is- can I somehow save the stock ROM file after chipping and revert to it if something goes wrong? Because I'm still a newbie and want to have this back-up.
If yes, how do I do that? THANKS

Oooohhhh... didn't think about that. Nice catch spAdam. See what happens when one "assumes" that when someone speaks of "chipping" an ECU, they already know that it has to be an OBD-1 ECU to be successful in doing so.
Clarification: One cannot "chip" an OBD-2 P28.

I don’t know for sure, I just saw P28 + D16Y8 in the OP and figured it was worth asking. It catches people out a lot considering how few of those there really are.
Not sure if that post is still up, but man that'd be a goldmine especially now lol.

I counted what I have on hand a few months back and I surprised myself. I should have been holding onto more oem distributors though.
