Another stupid CV axle question
I've been asking Honda guys, searching the internet, and scouring this forum for months now and finally decided to sign up to get some advice.
This is what's going on.
1991 CRX Si driver's side inboard CV joint keeps tearing itself up. Been through 3 axles including the original in the past 2 months. This started happening after a couple of things.. The engine (D16A6 with L3 trans) died and I replaced it with a 88-91 OBDO ZC and new L3 trans. All of the engine mounts are new, but looking under the car, the driver side axle looks like its stretched and the passenger side axle looks compressed as if the engine is sitting too far to the right. At first, I drove about 20 miles before the joint separated and tore up, 2nd time about 20 feet. After that, I replaced a bunch of suspension parts, adjusted engine position at the side trans mount and pushed the engine as far left as it could go, and it still looks off. Heard a clunk today like the ball popped out of the CV joint cup and popped back in. I cannot think of anything other than there may be some frame damage. It had been sitting outside before I could replace the engine and a small tree fell right on the passenger side A pillar. Not a lot of visible damage other than the fender and sun roof are dented in. If that's the case and there are no other options, is there a longer axle I could use ? I haven't been able to find one with the right spline count other than one for a 2000 Civic, but that's only 7 mm longer.
HELP !!

I can't remember all the different mount combinations, but I believe you may need to change the driver's side post mount out to the one that was on the A6 engine. Not 100% sure though.
@Hasport probably has some good advice.
