Pop then no gears immediately after changing transmission
Everything seemed okay so I pulled it out of the garage after the transmission swap. It felt good in first gear so I put it in second and I went over a drain on the street and as I released the clutch there was a sort of loud pop then I had no gears. There was no noise before or after the pop. I put it back on the jack and spun a tire to see if the other went the opposite way and it did with a little help otherwise it would just spin and make a slight clicking noise but if I helped I could feel it sort of grabbing in the opposite direction. At this point I feared the worst so I pulled it all apart again. With the motor out of the car I spun the input shaft and it worked as it should so I put one of the cv axels in and sure enough when I spun it the other side of the differential spun the opposite direction as it should with no problems. Leading me to believe when it was put together in the car the axel must have been not connected all the way that's why I could feel it sort of biting when I was spinning the tire other tire but not really. My main question is if an axel pops out of the transmission do you lose all your gears? And wouldn't the other tire still drive?
