Secondary Ignition and Starter?
OK, so I know this is a crazy one. But I live in my CRV. I have a bed in the back with the TV and curtains and all the things I need to survive. But when I need to turn on the air conditioning when it gets hot, I have to reach forward to the ignition switch turn the key to turn the car on. What I’d like to know is, is there a way to add a secondary ignition ignition switch and starter, So that I can turn the ignition on and start the car from the rear of the vehicle. I’ve searched online and have found nothing about this, so I’m hoping somebody here can help me out. I admit it’s a little bit lazy, but it would be really nice if I could just turn the car on from the back.
I live in my car. It’s not glamorous, but the rent is cheap, and I never get stuck living next to a sh#++¥ neighbor. I removed the back seats and made a nice mattress to fit perfectly from the hatch to the back of the front seats. I have curtains for privacy, and a TV for entertainment.
I sleep with my head at the rear hatch... and I have a 24”’flat screen that wedges perfectly between the headrests. So currently i have to either pull the TV down and reach the ignition, or I can barely squeeze between the front seats and under the TV to reach the ignition.
I’m being a little lazy... but it would be SO nice if I could just flip a switch and / or push a button to turn the ignition on and crank the car. In the summertime, I have to crank the car to run the A/C a few times during the night to stay comfortable... and in the winter I do the same with the heat.
You’re probably right... I’ve seen some plug and play Remote Start Kits out there for the 2nd Gen CR-V.... I definitely appreciate the suggestion... but I still kinda want to do it my way.
So I’m obviously not an expert with vehicle electronics... but here’s what I was hoping to accomplish.
I was hoping to leave the key in the ignition turned to the ON position, and wire in a switch and starter button in the rear of the CR-V, so i could essentially turn the ignition on and off and also start the engine from the back of the car?
I feel like it should be possible... however I really don’t want to fry the electrical system by doing it wrong. Heck... it may not be feasible... but if it is, I’d really like to do it.
if anyone knows of a way to make this work, please let me know. If my idea is idiotic, let me know. Thanks!
