I'm smoke testing for vacuum leaks and am getting smoke out of this hole under the tps. Does anyone know what the hole is for and is it normal for air to escape? I've noticed some throttle bodies on ebay do not have it and some do. Not sure if it is an auto/manual thing.
I'm currently dealing with this same issue I believe. High idle caused by vacuum leak from that hole. Did you manage to figure out a solution? I will post an update if I figure it out.

I came to the conclusion that it was a vacuum leak by design. Try covering it if you're doing a smoke test and make sure you don't have smoke anywhere else. Disconnect the idle solenoid and see if the idle drops to normal. If it does you'll have to remove the solenoid and clean it. How high is your idle?
Turns out that wasn't the issue, I thought I had plugged that hole with my finger and the engine died because of it but instead I just have nudged the iacv connector loose. Which immediately killed the car. IACV is brand new. Engine was warm but I suspect there may have been an air pocket. I still think there's a vacuum leak, possibly the throttle body gasket. And yes I think you're right about that hole having a vacuum leak by design. Waiting on a new throttle body gasket, I'll go from there.
