can any one hlep me here no info from the forced induction forum
i have a 96 hatch DX 5 speed.
first do they even sell a turbo kit for the non vtec D16y7?
all i hear is the Vtec versions of the D series but do they make a kit for the non Vtec?
and if so what kid of times could i get out of the stock motor it has 60000 miles and runs great.
also i know if i do the turbo i will get the hondata and upgraded clutch and flywheel.
and then whatever else goes along witht he turbo kit exhaust system all that i will do but i am just wondering if i can even get a kit for the motor if not i will just go for a swap but i just wanted to stay turbo for awhile.
and basically i am looking for everything internally stock for awhile? and hoping for like mid 14's maybe low 14's that would be really cool but i don't know how likely with a non vtec SOHC thats why i am asking yall so.
is it possible?

if u want to hit 14's get an engine swap..*** the d16 man
for the risk your taking going to boost
you could go a GSR swap for under 3000$ and run 14's
add i/h/e clutch, flywheel maybe intake manifold your looking at mid/low 14's
well i just hear about all this SOHC stuff and i figure **** if i could just turbo what i have now then **** that would be sick.
but is there even a turbo kit for my motor?
and i know i can do a swap but i mean **** it aint going to blow off

Go for the boost..It'll be much more fun than a swap. And cheaper as well. Sorry, but I think only DRAG makes a kit for the D16Y7. I'm not sure though. You could however, purchase a GReddy kit and everything will bolt right on, except for the charge pipe to the Throttle body. If you have an after market intake, cut it after it bends over (since the Y7 TP points upwards) and connect it with the chargepipe from the kit. Or just get a Y8 with all the goodies. After that, you should be done and the only thing you probably have to worry about is the cat since you'll be romoving your headers.
15-mid 14's are very posible on stock internals and minimal tuning. With good tuning 14's will be the in the picture FOR SURE.
Swapping is a good idea, but requires more knowledge about how motors work, and FI is just much more fun. Which ever route you decide to chose, good luck.

Grab the Greddy kit for the Y8 (sohc vtec) and get you a Y8 intake manifold. It will bolt up (Youll have to do some minor adjustments, like cutting the hole under where your stock airbox was) and youlll need a new exhaust system, and there ya go!

umm so with basically any SOHC kit and just get the intake manifold like a EX one and i would be fine?
what kind of times you guiys think i could get out of the car? like with basically stock internals but everything needed turbo wise fuel all that stuff and exhaust and clutch flywheel and drag radial.
what kind of time you guys think i could get obviously i can run like no more than 7-9 LBS tunned i am guessing? but what you guys think i could get and yes i CAN driver good

15's for SURE. maybe mid 13's to 14's for a good driver. Both times are with stock internals...I've seen a SOHC GReddy kit somehow push 12's with a standalone so I think it's very possible for those times. Correct/good tuning will get you in the low 13's for sure.

Make sure you don't get the Y8 manifold from a 99 or 00 with the air injection. With that intake manifold, a Y8 turbo setup bolts right up.
Did Greddy release the Civic kit? Everything I see is always TBD.
Edelbrock had a Civic turbo kit 96-00, for an EX at the SEMA show, that comes with an intake manifold, to be available in Spring 03.

I got a drag III kit on my civiec ex d16y8 motor and havnt gotten it tuned but its definately more fun with the turbo than i could imagine with a swap. You get the nice sounds of the turbo spooling up, the blow off valve, front mount intercooler etc. I havnt ran it on the track yet but after i get it tuned and bigger injectors im expecting low 14's on stock internals. Right now im pushing about 4-5 lbs of boost with spikes of up to 10 ( I dont know why it does that but everyonce and a while i'll see the boost spike up to about that amount). If you buy the kit I recomend spending another $100 and get a bigger in-tank fuel pump and junk the in-line fuel pump that comes with the kit. I've heard stories of the in line fuel pump springing a leak and catching of fire. If that were to happen there would be nothing you can do but watch the car burn. Mine sprung a leak but it was kinda my fault, I guess i didnt tighten the clamp as tight as i should of, well the line blew off the pump and fuel was spilling out all over the place, Luckily nothing ignited. But i took that think out of my car and bought a walboro 255lph in tank and it works alot better than the other. If you want I can get you a drag III complete kit for your car $2800 shipped.
so does it even make a difference that i have the non Vtec motor and most of the kits are made for the Vtec motors?
and has anyone ever heard of someone boosting a D16y7?
and do you guys think a t3/t4 would be better or a t/3?
because i don't want to have like ******* MAD boost lag i know the red line on my car is like a 6400 or some ****. actually what is my redline? and i would want the turbo to spool like at 3000rpm or 4000rpm but no later. so what turbo should i go with?
and what is my compression ratio ?
and which ECU do i have?

so basically i could slap a turbo kit in my car tune it and boost about 5-7 PSI and what kind of times you guys think i can pull of with drag radials?
and yes i would get a upgraded clutch and flywheel. and maybe upgrade the tranny also.
but what kind of times then on radials with that setup and full interior like mid to low 14's?

turbonetics t3/t4 turbo, mine spools up at about 3-4k. deltagate wastegate, blitz dd bov, vortech fmu, drag hi-flow in-line fuel pump, chrome intercooler + piping, turbo manifold, downpipe, all gaskets, clamps, lines, map bypass valves. everything you should need to make about 100hp with the right tuning. Put up a search for drag III and look at the kist.. its the same thing as i got.
