engine knock occasionally on acceleratio.
civic 2019 sporthatch. 22,000. just got an oil change and the knocking started here and there. denver area so their gas is lower octane. no light on. had a new battery installed. use low and high octane depending on cash. honda a little mixed on their knowledge flow. just a knocking on gassing or let off than stops. occasionally.

yes i did since honda told me it was okay to use the 85. (i'm not used to high altitude octane choices)so i figured they gave me bad advice and got shell 91. since i have ran thru half a tank it seems to have corrected itself. thanks for responding.
I think most autos are factory tuned on the lowest available octane we have access to.. Even though you *can* use it, the vehicle may otherwise not like it. Lol! I'm familiar with Colorado as I was stationed at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs for about 5 years. The fuel is horrible. Lol! Couple that with the altitude and eek! Good thing you've got it sorted now. Just keep with 91 or better and you'll be fine! Think they have 85 87 91, if I remember correct?
I've always wondered how a forced induction worked in high altitude. I mean, the turbo was first made for airplanes to keep from dying at higher altitude by feeding more air. That's called turbo normalizing though, rather than turbo charging..
Anywho.. I miss Colorado. Lol!

been test driving the civic lx 2.0 litre vtec engines. i have noticed the difference where the 1.5 does overall better but they put a sport mode now on the LX to give an extra kick(no shift paddles). theres a difference and its peppy also. i think overall the gdi engine is risky and used car values are very good right now due to lack of stock. amazing what honda has done for the 4 cylinder.
