100% stock, rust free, 1986 Civic Si Video Series
Have a few things to fix on this, will be updating with small how to videos on the 3g civic, since they basically don't exist.
Episode 2 of my 86 Civic Si project just dropped; trying to fix my broken tachometer! In this video I pull the distributor, test the ignitor module with a meter, find a new one for a prelude for cheap, install that, and my tach is still 100% dead. Would appreciate any advice!

Second video on no tach issue: Removed cluster, tested the harness (I think this looks right?!?), disassembled the cluster to look for obvious signs of electrical carnage, and then installed a junkyard cluster.... STILL NO TACH AT ALL.

VICTORY IS MINE!
Smash that like button purely because that is a legit screenshot of Sir Mixalot's booty dancer with 3g Tachometers photoshopped on her booty 🍑😆
Anyway, FINALLY FIXED MY TACH! And... if you want to see way too much detail between an Si cluster vs a Non Si cluster, the amount of differences is just staggering; literally no parts interchange other than light bulbs! As a product designer this makes no sense, seperate tooling for even the gauge FACES of the Si, different base, different gears on the speedo, entirely different ways of doing the trip odometer, just... wtf... lol. Kind of a boring video but I was just perplexed at how different these clusters are!

I'd skip my tach troubleshooting videos, they aren't very cool. More of just a cry for help, trying to see if the hivemind could point me in the right direction.
I don't like Civics, I LOVE CIVICS. I am an original owner of one, 1991 Civic DX Hatchback with a few SI upgrades. It's been my daily driver since November 1991 and not once left me stranded. I also have a 1986 Civic SI which is running good, but needs a just a few items (nothing major) to get it on the road. Btw, I can't wait to drive it, just for show-offs. Yes, show it off to all lovers and yes, haters, too. It's my CIVIC duty to stand by cars, CIVICS, which have taken me from thousands of point As to point Bs, successfully. And, why not? Would you rather stand by an unfaithful significant other car? Heck No! Love, love and more love to Honda Civics.
I think 3g Civics are criminally undervalued, considering it was Japans answer to the rabbit GTI, their first hot hatch, the first Si, and the Civic Si has proven so popular that it's still in production today. I don't get why they aren't worth anything.
New vid, my car overheats very slowly, runs great, but overheats... so I'm troubleshooting and swapping parts. Here's the first video, simple thermostat change and some nice flyby shots during the middle of a storm.
