I've been trying to find the rear sway bar for my 98 EX and I don't seem to be having any luck anywhere, anyone seen or has or wants to sell one? I can get brackets, bushings and links but wouldn't mind if it has them already.
It is discontinued from the Dealership... you will have to find one on the used market. Have you considered something slightly larger from the aftermarket ? This path will likely be easier to navigate.
I've been looking at some, most are 24 and 26mm I didn't want something so aggressive, the only one I found that is smaller is a 18mm from nolathane, which if I can't find the si one I'm probably going to go with.
OEM Type-R bars can still be had from the importers and are really not that aggressive. The only downside I can see is that you will definitely have to run subframe reinforcement to use them. The other option for a small bar would be to hit the local pick 'n pull and nab one of of any non-R Integra. They are 14mm. You'll need to get very slightly creative with the endlinks.
Got a complete bar off a Integra at the junkyard, they were also doing a 50% off everything for memorial day, came out to $8 for bar with brackets, links, and bolts.
I just took a look at a 99 civic and a 00 integra from some friends and the brackets are different, the ek brackets sit flat on the frame, the integra brackets are offset with one bolt sitting deeper than the other. so i got some integra rear sway bar brackets and tie rod brackets if anyone wants em.
Only the EM1 Si's came with a rear bar to my knowledge. Integra rear bar is 13mm hatchback and 14mm sedan. You can use the Integra brackets but one hole won't sit flush, you'll need a few washers under it to make them sit correct.EM1 endlinks will bolt right up to the lower arms as there is already a hole there but not the Integra bar ends, they are totally different and I don't think you can use the Integra endlinks with the EK . I'm running a 13mm Integra bar with EM1 endlinks and Integra brackets but I had to modify the bar ends to connect to the end links. I used some aluminum spacers and drilled the holes and fit the end link through. It works but I'd seriously get the ASR brace and bar or the Progress if you can swing it. I have a Blox 21mm bar but it'll probably rip the subframe so I haven't installed.Hope this helps I have other photos if needed. Integra 13mm sway bar end Integra bracket Correct EM1 brackets not installed Sway bar
I bought the ASR bar adapter kit, didn't feel like fabing something up, I'm using integra coupe sway bar, oem em1 brackets, em1 end links and some grade8 bolts, washers and nuts I got from my job, the D-brackets from the integra bar bolt right up to the em1 brackets so that's not a problem, hopefully I'll get it installed this weekend if it doesn't rain.
I got it installed on this weekend, em1 brackets, em1 end links, ASR adapter kit, bolted up very easily only annoying thing is the top D-bracket bolt on the passenger side because of the stock muffler little annoying but you can get it in with no problem. BIG handling upgrade, car is much more solid in the wind, more stable in the turn in and higher speed through the corners, all in for under $50 if you have a pick-a-part near you. Best upgrade so far I've done to this coupe, coils, wheels, and SI wing coming soon.
I ran the washer setup on my EK beater with a non Type R bar. didn't have issues with it, but as I thought, it was basically useless and just bought a cheap brace and mounted my ITR sway bar that was recently taken out of my integra when I went up to a 25mm
I finally got rid of the 13mm Integra sway bar and ghetto fabbed brackets with washers. Honestly never noticed a huge difference and getting the EM1 end links into those thick bar ends using whatever method works for you leaves only 2-3 threads exposed to get the nut on. Thought I'd try the Emusa subframe brace,it was only like $40 shipped so why not. Actually pretty impressed with it,it's an ASR copy and quality looks very good. The long bolts that go through the control arms are garbage and not even the correct thread pitch but I had some stock D16 head bolts left over from my build which worked perfect. This allowed me to mount my Blox 21mm sway bar since I already had the EM1 endlinks. Pretty easy install and not only did ride quality increase, steering effort and cornering are much better. I think I paid around $130 for the bar,$40 for the brace, and the endlinks from Rockauto were maybe $15 for both. Great upgrade for under $200. Emusa subframe brace with Blox 21mm sway bar
