Cylinder 4misfire
So it will missfire at idle I’m not shure if it misfires when I drive .. but I don’t think it dose. just a single cylinder .
here’s what I’ve done
Checked spark compression and swapped fuel injectors and all of those are good
what sound I do next????

 

when is the last time you swapped cap, rotor, plugs and wires out?

 

If you know the one cylinder I would change that wire, spark plug, and the cap. I would also take a look to see if there is oil getting into the spark plug hole.

 

Swapped plugs and wires out about a week ago never changed cap
and I’ll check for oil in the spark plug hole

 

You mentioned you checked spark, how did you test it was ok? What is your plug gap set at?

 

I checked the spark by removing the wire and putting it on a metal pice of the head
here it tapping and also had the spark jump pretty far mabe 3cm

 

I bought the spark plugs pre gaped and also switched them around when I still had the missfire

 

Also there is a verry small amount of oil in all of the spark plug holes mabe 2 drops

 

You are right, that sounds like a good spark. When watching it, did it ever give a low spark or always a big spark?

Are you able to watch and monitor via OBD-II to see and record all the sensors at misfire to see if anything looks out of place (like O2 or timing or something?).

 

And the spark plug was burned in cylinder 4 I’m going to replace them rn along with wires and cap
it may have been 3 weeks since I replaced wires and plugs
havent drove it allot mabe 60 miles

 

I have a obd2 scanner for codes will that help watching the spark???

 

The spark dosent jump 3cm every time mabe every second or 2

 

Update: just got brand new plugs wires and distributor cap and installed them ... still missfire if from cyl 4

 

Turn off the ac and it misfires .... when I turn it on the missfire is gone

So what was the solution? telling us helps with helping the next person who might the same issue.

Solved: I think I figured this out as well . There’s actually a rpm drop. Not allot but there is one. So I don’t think its missfireing at all drive it 200 miles no code

i think the code came from the corrosion on the cap still not shure


ALSO TURNING ON THE AC PUTS A LOAD ON THE ENGINE AND WILL MAKE A DEAD CYLINDER SEEM OK ... when you pull the wires out
