Default Stumped

Hey everyone. I’m a bit stumped and am looking for input. I’ve got a 94 accord ex. When I cold start it, it turns over slowly. When the engine is warm and I try to start it it turns over even slower almost to the point where I can hear each individual revolution if that makes sense. I replaced the starter and battery almost 2 years ago. This issue has gotten worse over the past 8 months or so. I replaced battery cables last month. The battery is testing good. Swapped it out with another battery I had and the starter turned just a little faster but not much. Alternator is charging good. What am I missing? Could I have gotten a starter with a short lifespan?

Simplest approach is to check your engine to chassis grounds and the battery to chassis/body ground. Clean then up, or even better yet, add a new engine ground and see if it makes a difference. A ground strap is $10 at most, and even can't hurt to try at all.

The other aspect is to make sure that the starter pos cable is nice and tight on there,

Agreed, if it's not the power side cable, then I would also suspect the ground is rusted, frayed, torn or something along those lines. As said above, run new strap, thoroughly clean the grounded area and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply’s yall. Where is that ground located? I replaced the ground cable from the battery. Where are the others? A ground would make the most sense. My headlights are fairly dim and my idle is very low.

Tried to send a picture but couldn't get it to go.
Should be similar as on a 95 ex f22b1:
Engine ground cable from driver's side of engine to the body.
Similar strap on the other end for battery ground.

Okay thanks! I’ll have to look for it. That may very well be my issue as I only replaced the cables coming from the battery. Thank you for your input!

Recently had the same exact problem with my 4runner and cleaning up the existing engine to chassis ground and adding another (Dorman brand $2 on rockauto) ground seems to have solved the issue for me.

Re grounding issues on my accord years ago, had it down for a month or two doing work on it in a humid area, and by time I went to start it would get no spark/slow cranking. The engine to chassis ground ends needed sanding and cleaning up and problem solved... I bought a spare distributor to find that out, but no returns so I just kept it as a spare.

I have a feeling that that ground is going to be my issue. Is this ground going to be on the bottom of the engine somewhere? Looking for a general place to start looking. I’ve located the the valve cover ground and while it could use some work, doesn’t seem to be in terrible shape. I have a feeling that last ground is gonna be bad but I can’t seem to locate it.

Got the issue corrected. Today the starter gave out. Decided to check the battery to be sure so I dropped it in an 84 F150 with a 351 in it. Turned over extremely fast. Swapped the starter out for another reman one. The old one hasn’t ever turned over this quickly. I think I had a dud from the get go. I appreciate everyone’s help.
