Your best bet will be to use a jumper harness and a chipped ECU.

A professional tune is required.

You can find the required jumper harness on most of the ECU/tuning related websites like Phearable, Xenocron, HAmotorsports, etc. Lesser quality ones are also available on eBay.

Any chipped ECU will work as long as it has VTEC provisions. P28s are getting rare so if you order an ECU it will probably be a P28 equivalent. If you wish to retain ECU control of your IABs, you will need to get a P72 or P72 equivalent. You may consider ordering one from the above websites where you get your jumper harness because they do preventative maintenance on the ECU itself and will include a basemap. A basemap will allow you to start the vehicle and check for leaks before taking it to a professional tuner.

last question will my harness from the automatic plug into the plugs on the new engine obvi the transmission has less so they’ll be dangling etc but could use the old harness aslong as I go the chipped route with jumper?

Typically the best way to do it is to use your old engine harness and modify it to work with the new engine. Generally only a few wires/plugs need to be extended. You can just tape off the old automatic connectors and tie them out of the way somewhere, or you can cut them off if you're sure you'll never need them again.

If you are going to retain your OEM engine harness, you will want to use an OBD2 distributor for an H series that matches it. Likely from a 5th gen Prelude. The OBD2-1 conversion is being done at the jumper harness. As for the wiring diagrams...this swap has been done many times and the information is readily available from a simple google search.
