Default Bucking

I have a 93 DX Hatch, well I took a long road trip and on the way home I was just going a little too fast, all the sudden my exhaust sounded REALLY bad, So I got off at the next exit and when I slowed down my car was jerking and bucking. At idle it acts like it wants to die and shakes, when I accelerate it shakes and sounds like crap till about 5000 RPM's and it sounds normal and runs normal, just so you know it is a D15B7 wih Ractive intake and stock exhaust manifold and cat and stock muffler (in case that helps)

Any ideas?

i would check your timing, that is kinda daliy occurence with my car when i first start it. gotta let that shiz warm up a bit before i drive it. but check your timing, and your distrib. more than likely not piston rings, or head gasket, or your temp would go through the roof as you drive it. another way to tell if your headgasket is gone, see if there is oil in your anitfreeze, and antifreeze in your oil. then you have an "ut-oh" and if that is the case, just be thankful it isnt a 66 327 vette with factory ac your changing the head gasket on. thats a bitch, ask me how i know. damn you have to take the wheel well liner out to change the spark plugs and the battery. 66 vette = NFG to work on.

Checking your timing, is that something you can do by yourself, or would you have to take it somewhere, I dont know much about them? And how would you know if it's goin out?
