I think Reid deserves and explanation.....

This thread is COMPLETELY ITR RELATED
Let me start off by saying that in my opinion, he was shut down and given NO EXPLANATAION. I dont know whats the big deal. Is somebody scared? Or are people just not wanting change? Or maybe some people are having a conflict of interest?
I can see why dumb questions get locked but this is FAR from a dumb question.
It really upsets me that an eager (not only eager, but reputable!) Honda-Tech member gets shut down because he thinks he qualifies for being a moderator.
To the mods, before you start getting hairy, just remember, Im typing this in an upmost calm tone. Hard to tell just by reading words.
To put it in a nutshell, I think we deserve a reason why it was locked and who.

I was wondering why my thread was locked.
It's one thing to lock a thread without an explanation when the reason is obvious.
But when the reason for locking a thread is ambiguous it'd be nice for the moderator who locks it to take credit for it and explain why it was locked.
I'm not trying to whine, I'm just wondering why an ITR forum related thread was locked. The only reason for me starting that thread was to offer my services to help clean up this place. No offense to the current mods, but being that some of us live in extremely different time zones (Mike M and I for example), there are times when no moderators are around to kill the trolls. Today the need for another mod was blatantly apparent.
My $0.02.

I don't know the circumstances (hell, I didn't even read that thread) but there are plenty of mods in the R forum, period.
It has come up numerous times w/ Dustin and there is no need for any more mods in this forum. There is ALWAYS going to be some time where there is no mod on, we all have lives (well, most of us) and are not here under HT's beck and call (at least until a salary is involved)
That's life, stop whining about being a mod...if there is a need, and you deserve it, someone will be "promoted"...again, I didn't read that previous thread, but this is just how "we" see it

asking to be a mod is lame
I'm just tired of not being able to do anything while the ITR forum turns to crap. I refuse to let this place fall into ruin.
Sure, a threadstarter might think I'm being an *** by questioning the relevance of their thread in this forum. But one must realize that by asking questions in a more relevant forum, one will receive better responses.

Who did and why? An IM sent to the threadstarter when locking relevant threads would be a nice thing to do.
I know Lip often is courteous enough to give a reason and take credit for locking threads.

Ok, so you didn't lock it.

IM an admin, there is a log of who locks/moves threads........that will help you w/ your search for who/why it was locked
It's the first time in a long time that I can remember this happening, and to say that we need more moderators or hint that someone wasn't on the ball isn't really helping.
I took a look at some of the threads. Shame on those of you who played along. You were fully empowered to shut them down by simply ignoring the threads, or reporting them immediately.

For the life of me, I don't understand why someone would want to volunteer to be a moderator.
Also, I don't need to be a mod. I'd just like to see our forum return to the way it once was. As of late there has been a decline in the ITR forum, and that should be apparent to everyone.
We aren't going to get another moderator right now.
Something that would help a lot is if in the forums that have a respondent moderator (it's Yoshi in the ITR Forum), you take care and time to report offensive threads or threads and posts that aren't relevant to the forum's subject matter.
Cursing, abusive posts. posts that advertise things, posts that are obvious trolling attempts...report these using the report to moderator function.
There was a serious lapse for a short while today, because it was one of those rare moments that everyone was away and some usually otherwise responsible members got carried away responding to posts and threads from less responsible members and trolls.

I agree 100% with george.
Amazing how well the system "works" when not only the moderators do the right thing, but also the MEMBERS.....
You're right, it WOULD be nice...I do the same....but mods aren't REQUIRED to give reasons and they all have different personalities and reasons for moving/locking threads....
"This thread is being locked by _______ because ________ ."
I think he should be one too, im sick of all these people with the stupid *** posts, did you see the ones by "hondahater" recently, what a moron. Reid is always posting and since a lot of people are not on here during the day to monitor it, it would be a good idea. Im sick of all this garbage.

So why don't we make it required? A simple statement as the last post by the mod that locks the thread.
"This thread is being locked by _______ because ________ ."

Good idea, it would cut down a lot on the "Why was X locked" threads.
Like Jason says, its encouraged to IM the starter, but sometimes it doesnt happen, or maybe the mod who locked it thought it was obvious why it was locked.
And Ill be honest, like George said (in other words) the reason people may think the ITR forum is turning to sh*t is because of the *members* not the moderators. Everyone on this forum, mods and members (because Mods corner is a god damn soap opera in itself) needs to LIGHTEN UP. Chill out with forcing opinions on other people. Relax with putting down other peoples ideas. Stop flaming people for their differences. Use your heads.
I think if THAT was "required" then 99% of your problems will dissapear. The other 1% is that damn vtecvoodoo guy...we're probably stuck with him forever, unfortunately
