Intermittent rough idle and driving bog.... happened after rain.
This car has a history of tracking down this issue, What’s happening right now is the car runs great 98% of the time, one day one the highway I felt it maybe cut out slightly, could feel a slight jerk as if the ac kicked on. A few days go by and it rains, I leave for work in the morning and could feel the slight jerk but this time a little worse, come to a stop and it idle jumps around a few seconds and dies. Sun comes out rest of the day and it seemed to have got better the more I drove, dude great for 2 days then it rains again tonight and I got out to the store and it starts running bad as soon I start it from it being cold, ran terrible the way to the store and threw a code, leave the store and it drives like nothings wrong. Code is p2227. I bet once there a day of no rain it will be back to normal.
The history of this car since I’ve known it is my friend got it and it did fine for a month then broke down, unplugged the crank sensor and it started up and we got it home. Found the belt tensioner froze and belt skipped a couple teeth. Replaced the timing belt and components and it just wouldn’t run right after, it sat for a year because it wouldn’t start without the crank sensor unplugged, and when it was running it was terrible.
I took over the car and I put new gas in and that seemed to have cleaned up the idle a little to were it could be driven but still bouncy idle and bucking while driving. Only code it was throwing was p2227, replaced the ecu and had it programmed by dealer. Car still ran bad but no more p2227, It then threw a code for the purge valve, replaced that and I knew it wouldn’t help but the code went away. I decided to check the timing one day and it was good, put it back together and then the car ran great, drove it a week until it messed up again. Took it to dealer to have diagnosed, the said after doing all testing it had to be the engine harness, they moved the harness around and even through the p2227 code, they also mentioned the crank sensor seemed to have bad readings and should be replaced.
I replace the crank sensor and the crank will then start on command but continued to run rough, then put a new harness in and it seemed to of fixed it, drove it everywhere running the ac and whatever else, until now. The harness and crank sensor were replaced about a month ago.
I will send happily $20 to whoever points me in the right direction of fixing it, I am so tired of chasing this thing and am at a loss now, feel free to ask any questions.

Make ? Model ? Year ? I think you need a technician , mice will invade even a daily driver , you should think about how much time and money you want to spend on this car .
04 Civic ex with a manual transmission, this is the first problem on a car I wasn’t able to find the answer somewhere on the internet. It has been throwing the p2227 code from the beginning, and a recent website I found about fixing that error code said to replace tps, so I have one ordered and will be here tomorrow. The Honda techs had a full day on it running it through an entire diagnostic and came to the conclusion it was a wire short and the engine harness needed to be replaced. I’d take it back but can’t afford another discounted $400 bill.
