Apexi WS opinions on 92-95 EG or coupe, questions and statements.
Apexi WS on 92-95 hatch/coupe.
Few questions that I'd like to confirm:
1) sound with a test pipe. Folks have said the system is quiet, even with a test pipe. Just how quiet? oem quiet or a nice tone? I don't want N1 sound nor do I want oem sound. A nice throaty middle-ground would be nice.
2) weight of the system. How heavy is it?
3) clearance on eg for swaybar. I have heard this is ok on the WS.
4) fitment issues. Some people have issues and some it fits fine. Note that i am using stock D15B7 motor.
I have thought about other exhausts in this pricerange and most are ricey, big-tipped fartcans. The only other exhaust for about the same $$ and quality is the magnaflo catback, but I have not heard anything about that in terms of sound and fitment.
Anyone care to elaborate on any or all of the above?

I'm looking for it actually.....otherwise I suck....
Edit: I know what I read but, unfortunately,
I can't find squat...

I just installed one on my car a few days ago, and I like it a lot. The sound is nice and mellow, even with a test pipe. But it is definately louder than the stock exhaust.
I had a bit of trouble getting it to fit right at first, but that was actually because the test pipe that I was using was too short. The stock dx cat should be the correct length. Once I got the test pipe extended a little bit, everything fit fine.
Although, I am not sure about this, but around hard left hand corners, I think my lower control arm (i think that's the one) is tapping my exhaust piping a little bit. I am lowered about 2 inches. This may be because the guys down at the muffler shop welded my piping a little crooked (in order to compensate for the initial rubbing and rattling). But I have only noticed it twice so far, and both times were accelerating through a bumpy left hand corner.
The piping seems to be lighter than the stock exhaust, but since my stock exhaust was so much smaller (smaller diameter = less metal) I don't know if I actually saved any weight.

Here's my 2 cents. I have a WS on my 94 coupe, with just a gutted cat. It is just a lil louder than stock and makes great power. It sounds the best in the midrange, where it seems to make the most power difference. I ran my car bone stock, ran a 16.7, then bolted on this exhaust and passed a 16.1. I've had 6 different exhausts on this car including the N1, DC, Thermal, and a Dunk exhaust. I think the ws made the most power for my car so far.
It does rattle on my sway bar a lil though, but not that bad. I sold all the other exhausts because they were too loud. The N1 looked great on my car, but was the loudest. I had the Dunk on my car for more than 2 years, then sold it to a friend. That thing is prolly 3 years old by now, and has not failed or shown any signs of falling apart soon. I've seen several Greddy exhausts fail within a year. I've owned 3 different Apex'i exhausts, I know they perform well, and that they will last for many years. I have no intentions of bolting any other exhaust on my car, now.
I recommend the WS, I love it, and costs less than any other catback that i've owned. ($329.- on sale from Option)

Looks like they sell em for $407.- now. I was just lucky to find them on sale when i was buying. I just checked my invoice, and it was $339. plus shipping. $407.- is not a bad price at all, either. Maybe ask option if they anticipate having them go on sale again.
