Default 2nd Gen Aftermarket Key Fob (No cutting)

*Disclaimer* I am not a pro at this stuff, so be careful! I was having trouble finding this information so I thought I would share. If you are more experienced and notice anything dangerous please let me know! *Disclaimer*

Okay, so it looked like someone tried to break into my 2nd gen CR-V and messed up the key on the drivers side. Super annoying. Instead of getting the lock repaired I wanted to just install a key fob. The OEM ones are like $300+ but they are plug and play. Some CR-V's already have this module installed, so if you are doing this to your CR-V check behind the little drawer under your radio, you may have one installed and just need to buy a key fob. My car did not have one installed, so I started looking into aftermarket key fobs. They are NOT plug and play, and require a little bit of wiring. I am a novice with electrical so I didn't want to hack into my car's wiring, so I tried to come up with something else. Here's what I came up with. This setup I made is ONLY for the locks, but it does unlock the 5th rear door. This does not include lights/horn/anything else.

Here's the link to the aftermarket key fob i used. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07JWF5G...roduct_details

I went down to my local LKQ and cut the drivers door wiring harness out of another 2nd gen CR-V. The picture below is what my mess looked like, junk harness and aftermarket wiring.

I began the process of using wire connectors to reconnect any wires I wasn't going to be changing, which was all of them except two. The two wires I needed for the locks, from the website below, are the white/blue and white/green wires.

At this point I connected all wires straight through and used wire nuts to connect the white/blue and white/green wires just to make sure it worked, and it did. Then I checked out my pamphlet that came with my aftermarket fob and saw I needed to connect the white and white/black wires to their respective open and close wires, which in this case was (white to white/blue) and (white/black to white/green). Not sure how to splice with the tools I had so I just taped the wires together, sent the nut home and taped the nut on just in case.

At this point I was not sure if it was a positive or negative system, so I figured I'd test negative first. I took the yellow and yellow/black wires (as my pamphlet instructed) and grounded them. I also grounded the black wire from my aftermarket fob, then I used a fuse location for a sunroof (sadly my car does not have a sunroof, but hey perfect?) to connect my 12v power. Below are how all those looked.

This setup worked for me! After this I zip tied everything in place. So this is how I ended up hooking up an aftermarket key fob ($15) using a junk harness from LKQ ($7) and some wire connectors/heat gun/electrical tape/wire strippers/whatever electrical tools you need. Hopefully this helps someone else! Sorry my pictures are kind of blurry my phone sucks.

Also, out of curiosity, if anyone knows what those two wires are that I taped off that would be cool. They didn't have corresponding wires on the other side so I just left them off.
