I have a 2018 Honda Civic LX, 2.0, and a few weeks ago I noticed that my A/C wasn’t as cold as it used to be but since the weather didn’t require much A/C use I didn’t notice that it was only getting worse. Yesterday, I started calling several places to see if they could take a look at my car’s A/C and most Independent repair places told me that they couldn’t do the work because of the new coolant being used. I finally called the dealer Gardena Honda (where I bought it) and was told that the price for just looking at it was $171 so I got pissed and told them that I was just calling around. I called a few more places and another mechanic told me that I should see if the Dealer could get me a better price. I called back to the same place and got a guy named Steve who told me that it would be free because lots of Civics between 2016-2019 were having the same problem and unless I’d had an accident then they would fix it for free. I went in to the Dealership only find out that it wasn’t true and that the Service Manager told me that (since I was pissed) that they could give me a $300-500 reduction in price and that Honda Corporate would give me another $500 off but it would cost me “still” $2500 but that they would give me a payment plan for 36 months! Again, I was pissed and went to Corporate to file 2 complaints and they say that they’ll investigate. This is my 3rd Honda and I’m shaken with this lack of empathy for my plight. I have never had a car, any car, A/C fail in 2 years!
